Why Editing Photos Matters

I was asked to take photos for a friend's son's Ring Dance. I wanted to make sure that they looked really nice! (She was paying me too!). I did have some technical difficulties however. My batteries died half way through and I had to borrow them from the parents- how embarrasing! (I always keep double of everything, even a camera, when I do a gig.) But being the space cadet that I am, I left them at home. I am so glad that I wasn't at a wedding!

Because my flash was not working the way that I wanted it to- it was was important that I shot RAW. (The highest file type). If you have more questions about that, see this video:

That way, in the editing room, I was able to push the limits of the my picture, with out hurting the image a lot!

I wouldn't want to miss this moments because I am trying to fiddle around with the settings of my camera.

Editing brings out the natural beauty of the person as well. Here is the straight-from camera shot. I like it. But the edited one has so much more POP!

Editing helps you to straigten our your photos. I tend to shoot crooked. I have no idea why! Maybe it's because I am talking with my left hand a lot to direct people!

Editing helps your image to look cleaner as well.

Editing gets out the un-wanted elements in your photos.

For editing- I use Adobe Lightroom. I highly recommend it, if you are doing any sort of photography! You can get it for 9 bucks a month (with photoshop for free!) Plus you can try it for 30 days with no cost! Totally worth it!

I would love to see your photos using these principles: Hashtag me on Twitter (@_MarshallArts_) , instagram (@chicamarsh) or facebook (@Marshallartsstudio)!

Keep Shooting!
